Anthropic IPO update: investors push for a lower valuation ahead of a November debut
Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company behind the Claude AI models, is preparing for what could be one of the largest stock market debuts ever. It is not yet publicly traded. Here is where things stand.
The IPO plan
- Anthropic made its IPO filing public on October 26, 2026, and plans to list on Nasdaq under the ticker ANT
- It aims to sell about $100 billion of shares, with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley leading the offering and JPMorgan leading sales to individual investors
- The roadshow could begin as soon as next week, with a debut targeted for the week of November 16, before Thanksgiving
The valuation debate
Anthropic was valued at $965 billion in its last private funding round in May. Talk in recent months put an IPO valuation near $2 trillion, but after a sharp selloff in tech stocks, some large investors have told the company a range of $1.5 trillion to $1.6 trillion would be fair, according to The Wall Street Journal. Anthropic has not set a valuation or the number of shares it will sell.
What the filing shows
An updated filing on November 2 showed roughly $17 billion in third-quarter revenue, up 47% from the previous quarter, a slowdown from growth of 144% in the second quarter. It also disclosed about $895.4 billion in commitments for computing power and infrastructure, stretching as far as 2045. Amazon, Alphabet and Nvidia are major investors in Anthropic.
